A live stream of the Hawaiians poke bowl match between New Zealand and Fiji was played live on RTE on Sunday night.RTE presenter Mike McLeod posted on his Twitter account that the match had been televised live and was viewed by an audience of over 1.3 million.
In a bid to get an idea of the level of interest in the match, he added: “New Zealand were in good form throughout, Fiji were a little sluggish at times, but they didn’t give up and ended up winning comfortably.”
Auckland’s Mika Tu’ungafasi scored a try, while Fiji’s Kane Ndleko scored two tries in the victory for the New Zealand side.
“I thought the Kiwis were a bit tentative, but we did come through,” Fiji coach Nduleko said.
“It’s a really important match and we need to keep playing good football to win.”
